Beware! Before U Lose your JOB...

Looking for a job? Keep it simple. Don’t panic. You are not going to launch a rocket into the sky. Just control yourself. All you want is a JOB commensurate with your qualifications and learning. First, learn the Basics to take the lead

* Your employer is not God or an angel. Employers want well-qualified professionals at minimum possible cost. You want a job wherein you put in minimum labour and earn maximum money! (Both contrary to each other. Let’s see who wins.)

* The moment you are declared a burden (due to inefficiency, loss, less workload, technological innovations, availability of better employees at lower wages) on account of several factors beyond your control and comprehension, your employer will immediately devise ways to fire you without caring for your career prospects. Sorry to say, nowadays, there is no job security.

* If you want peace and stability at the cost of rapid (random and uncertain too!) career growth, go for public sector jobs. Fill-up such forms and join a premier coaching institute. Moreover, government jobs have once again become lucrative with handsome salaries and suitable promotions. Job security and zero-workload was already there. What else you want?

* If you have to work to earn money, you can join a company. However, you could prepare for government (public sector) jobs when you are free. It is not easy, but you have no choice. There is no way out. It is all about Time-Management. Keep your goals clear. Don’t get confused. Be it Employment or Preparation, you have to do it sincerely.

Stage 2 –

Face interview questions calmly and maturely. Don’t worry about Employment gaps, Career changes, Job-hopping and Irregularities. As already said, there is no job-security. Job hopping has become a fashion. Nowadays, loyalty is not a rewarding virtue. Companies don’t hesitate to fire or sideline those employees who have put in 15-20 years of sincere and dedicated hardwork! All you need is a set of prudent and well-practised answers.

* Once again, keep it simple. Answers questions smartly and try to negotiate the best salary package. Practise before a mirror. There are many books and articles dealing with the same. You can find these at a bookstall near your home, in newspapers and on the internet. The bottomline is that private sector companies want maximum output from professionals by paying them the minimum possible package. That’s all. Other than that, these companies don’t care for anything else.

* The HR will try to pick holes in your employment history or academics. The HR will ask you questions regarding your chequered work history, career changes, uneven percentage of marks and the likes. The sole purpose of these manoeuvres and gimmicks is to minimize your prospects and settle you with a lower salary package. Ultimately, you will feel that you are not suitable for the job and don’t deserve half the package you demand! Finally, the position is offered to you, you take it as the “greatness” of the company and you thank the HR from the bottom of your heart!

* Tell me a primary thing. Who is an Ideal Candidate? Only those who crack competitions and take up professional courses in a sequence without dropping a single year! So the Corporate World needs “machines-in-men”. How many such ideal candidates are there? They are a rarity and won’t be able to run the operations of a single multi-national.

Underemployment arises when there are others who will put in extra hours of work and accept a package much lower than their counterparts. Thanks to poverty! The “Golden Parachute” is kept safe for a select few. For others the only option left is unlimited hours of workload and the lowest salary package! Hence, don’t underestimate yourself and beware of such corporate gimmicks.

* Never try to impress the interviewer. Just be yourself. Be honest and confident of whatever you are. Don't be scared or afraid. A frightened or coward person often lands in a situation that he dreads. There are many candidates. Likewise, there are infinite companies. However, you are one of your kind. Hence, always keep your morale high. There are far more opportunities than abilities.

* Moreover, your boss may be under-qualified and not better than you in any respect. He might be having the right links and settings besides qualities like flattery! Or, he might have just inherited a legacy from his parents. Nowadays, what you know is not more important than Who You Know. Contacts and Right Links topped up with pompous PowerPoint Presentations make “smart” Bosses. This is the secret of corporate 'professionals' I just revealed free of cost. (No need to say Thanks!)
