WHY ARE “you” NOT A PERSON OF INFLUENCE?
Part 2
At this point,
it is better to get the Basics right. After giving a serious reading to Part 1, it
appears that the people who exercise maximum influence are very determined or
special personalities with highly awakened and focused minds. However, the
fact is that they are normal and natural people. Remember, every crown is made
for a head, but every head doesn't get a crown. Moreover, there is always one
leader and the remaining of the lot are followers. These powerful and
successful souls have some qualities which others don’t have or others don’t
care to develop. These people unconsciously or subconsciously
possess the influencing attributes. Some of them may have learnt it from their
elders. Possibly, a few might have developed it consciously! The words “powerful
and influence” have been used multiple times previously and here as well. What
kind of power or influence have we been referring to?
The persons of
influence discussed, discovered or analyzed here are not limited to those who
have hit prominence or who make appearances in high profile parties. Our influencers comprise but are not limited to a class monitor, a cultural secretary of a
residential society, a leader of a militia, a president of local traders’ (unregistered)
association, a friend who is liked by one and all and the most sought after
relative. The purpose of this series is to find out why some people who are also ordinary and not better than us in any respect are strategically in a much
better position. What are those micro and unnoticed attributes that have given
them the lead? Remember, we should not underestimate smaller things or
differences. The difference between Rank 1 and Rank 3 holder in any field is
not much. Both are almost equally capable and talented. However, their rewards
are poles apart. Nobody cares to remember the names of Rank 2 or 3. Everybody
is concerned about and fascinated by Mr. No. 1. Again, it should be noted that
we are not jealous of our colleagues at office or neighbours in our locality. We are just trying to discover those petty things that we lack either knowingly or
unknowingly. What is coming between us and us being the influencers. This is the only purpose of this post.
The First Step:
Influencers accept themselves. They
don't keep comparing themselves with others. “Look, I’m younger and ahead of
you in all respects. I’m well-educated and very affluent. Besides, my wife is
more beautiful than yours". They don't think too much and are committed to
their own goals. Their aim is crystal clear and commensurate with their
abilities. They know how to start and when to finish. They are not stopped by
the unexpected. They don't plan for years in advance and are Self-Styled. They are what they are. They neither
try nor want to be someone whom they are not. They have accepted themselves.
If you can't
accept yourself, you won't accept others. Hence, you can never be an
Influencer. If you don't accept others, you don't accept yourself the way you
are. In both the cases you would be a misfit and a non-influencer.
