The 'Indian' Mentality: What next?

We Indians reside in an over-populous country. Surprisingly, very few of us are concerned with the 'Population Explosion' in India. Owing to the 'Population Pressure' thus caused, we struggle to attain even 'petty' things and paltry 'clerical jobs'. Indian clerks and bureaucrats proudly assume the title 'Babu' bestowed upon 'Indian clerks and assistants' who served their 'British Masters' before independence. The Britishers did so because they saw their Indian subordinates 'imitate their British Sahebs (great Lords)' like 'Baboons imitate Human Beings'! 'Baboon' is the root word for 'Babu'.

The Indian Freedom Struggle was abound with pain, suffering, exploitation, insult, humiliation, chaos and great dilemma. Over 60 years after attaining Independence, we haven't got rid of the 'Colonial Mentality'. Here, we don't speak English, but 'flaunt it fluently'. We prefer suits and tight clothes to indigenous cotton clothes in the scorching heat. 'Suits, shoes and everything that does not belong to the Indian Sub-Continent and Africa' are symbolic of the 'British Sahebs'. We Indians embrace these 'symbols' with both hands to feel superior to 'the rest of Backward Indians'.

Be it politics, foreign policy or an ordinary conversation, the bottomline is Caste, Creed, Religion and Region. We boast of unity in diversity. Currently, unity exists only in theory. In practice, there is a 'Big Divide'. There is no dearth of reasons to start a fight, yet we Indians 'discover' many others everyday. This keeps us busy and the real 'devil' in us never comes out! Moreover, we are not worried of anything now. We do what we like without considering the 'ill-effects' of our action on us and the rest of the world. This 'shrunk Indian mentality' has created a huge 'vacuum' in the Indian society. Naturally, the 'Market Forces' from across the world have come here to cash in on this 'Gap'. Every MNC with a wide range of products finds here a 'wide range of consumers'. After being deprived of 'respect and revolution' for centuries, now when we have achieved independence, we want to 'consume' everything. From looking 'fairer' to 'trying new things', we want to 'stuff' our home with every thing available in the Bazaar. Hence, the title 'The Great Indian Consumer' has been bestowed upon us!

Earlier, we would at least try to 'resist' foreign invaders, but now we have taken resort to 'Self Exploitation'. It appears that Delhi's fate is never going to change. It has been one of the richest cities in the world; hence, every random invader dreamt of plundering Delhi at least once in his lifetime. Actually, there are more Nadir Shahs in waiting. Now, MNCs do the same task in their innovative style. Their weapons are not 'advanced fire-arms', but terms like 'Globalisation, Metro, Free-EconomyLiberalisation and many others invented every weekend'! The methods have changed. What has not changed is the very 'plight' of a commoner residing in India or any African country. Moreover, the minds of both 'the exploiter' and 'the exploited' haven't changed. Mr. Victimiser still loves harassing Mr. Victim. Besides, Mr. Victim doesn't offer any effective resistance and thinks that things will improve one day on their own. It is not a fight, but an 'interaction' between 'Mr. Superior' and 'Mr. Inferior'. We all know that 'Inferiority' never attempts to win and 'Superiority' seldom endeavours to atone for!
