Always be concise and
focused. Speak, keeping in mind, your listeners' current interests and needs. Always keep the psychological aspect on your mind. Don’t teach or preach. Never give unsought/ unsolicited/ unasked advice or
suggestions. Your talk should be to the point. Never attempt to
impress your audience or try to be a role model. [If you do so, you will fail instantly. Motivation is a two-way process which has its own course and takes some time.]
Don’t project yourself as a man of distinction or
substance. Just be yourself or at least try to be yourself. Accept and Respect
your uniqueness. Don’t try to be a
motivator. Many times motivation turns into discouragement. It should be a
step-by-step process. If the person finds himself incompetent and incapable due
to his present circumstances and frame of mind, he may feel annoyed and believe
that the motivator is just making big talks and showing daydreams. [Strictly follow this if you are in Peer Coaching.] In the long
run, the development and procurement of such thoughts and ideologies is good
for none. So, be careful and prepared.
If you can accomplish a task in 30 days, say your customers that you can do it in 40 days. It will serve you with double benefits. One, if you are late due to circumstances beyond your control, you won't feel sorry because you have enough back up time. Second, when you finish your task before the stipulated time, you will be admired for speed. So be smart and diplomatic in this over-smart world.
