My Great 'GuruG'

I am not a celebrity or a business tycoon,” I said.

“So what son?” asked Guruji.

I mean, I am a common man. I have many duties and responsibilities. After sometime, I have to study, get a job, feed a family and look after my parents. Presently, I am a student, so life is not hard now. What will happen after 10 years? So tell me how to get the best of my time and efforts. How can I strike a balance between fun and career?” I explained.

“O my God! You think too much, really too much. However, your concern is genuine and justified. Before I chalk out the direction of your life, I would like to know your way of life. What do you want from life?” Guruji questioned me.

Guruji, that’s a difficult question. I haven’t thought about it before; however, I feel that my life should be simple and full of purpose. There should be enough money to feed my family and guests. My life should allow me to do things that I love to do like biking, travelling, reading and helping others. It doesn’t matter if I can’t make it big or large, but it should have some scope for fun and satisfaction. My life must not be wasted,” I proudly put forward my vision.

“Okay son. Now listen to me very carefully. You have to follow whatever I am going to tell you in order to make your life meaningful.

First: Be concise because you speak too much and use many words to explain a simple point.

Second: Never hurt others and pursue your dreams.
Third: Study hard and exercise your body to keep yourself healthy.
Fourth: Respect your parents and love your siblings.
Fifth: Never lose hope and keep trying to reach your goal.
Sixth: Love is necessary for life so fall in love and elevate your lover’s life as well.
Seventh: Dream big but be always ready to accept the small.
Eight: Be smart and diplomatic because you will find competitors at every turn and crossroad.
Ninth: Have fun whenever you want to have some.
Tenth: Do whatever you like, but never look down on others.

That’s all son. All the best,” Guruji preached.

Thereafter, Guruji disappeared and never came back. When I analysed his suggestions, I found that there was nothing new. Moreover, it was redundant as “Dreams” were over emphasized. Also, I already knew the most of it. We find such things in books and movies. Moreover, our teachers and parents preach nearly the same stuff every third day (except the one regarding Falling in Love). That means there is a Teacher and Preacher in all of us. We are our own Pioneers.

[I wonder which place my Guruji has gone to. I believe he has retreated to the Amazing World where he came from – My Dreams!!!]
